URBAN FABRIC is pleased to be a part of the final show at ART LABOR GALLERY Shanghai before they move to their new location. The exhibit, entitled SHANGHAI DREAM, includes paintings, textiles and rugs from Shanghai-based artists and designers Jayson Atienza, Keena Fletcher, Kavelaars and Urban Fabric.
We launched our Magne Furuholmen Limited Edition Series Rugs at the Stockholm Furnitue Fair. Three designs where selected from forty sculptures that Magne was commissioned to make for the Fornobuporten Sculpture Park in Oslo. Each rug is hand-knotted and hand carved in northern India from 100% New Zealand Wool and Chinese Silk. Each design is available in 4 colors and limited to 10 rugs in each color.
We are excited to announce a new Limited Edition series of rugs by Elena Manferdini + URBAN FABRIC Rugs, based on Manferdini's 'Building Portraits';
“Architects have a seemingly unlimited faith in the power of the grid, a mastering system that has become dominant in a significant portion of the modern American cityscape. The set of drawings used in the design of this collection of rugs explores the potential of the contemporary grid and vibrant colors. “
Manferdini’s drawings blur lines between fashion and pattern in an architectural context and introduce new contemporary landscapes. The new collection will be unveiled at the ToCo Haus Gallery in Los Angeles on January 27th, 2017.
OUR NEW BOLD RED SHANGHAI RUG IS HERE. WE WANTED EXPRESS THE CONSTANTLY CHANGING URBAN FABRIC OF SHANGHAI BY DETAILING THE TIGHT KNIT PEDESTRIAN ORIENTED FABRIC OF OLD SHANGHAI IN CONTRAST TO THE LARGE SCALE AUTOMOBILE ORIENTED STREET GRID OF THE REST OF THE CITY.
WE WERE RECENTLY COMMISSIONED BY A CLIENT IN ASPEN FOR A CUSTOM DUBLIN RUG. WHEN WE LOOKED INTO THE HISTORICAL URBAN PATTERNS OF DUBLIN IT BECAME CLEAR WE HAD TO MAKE OUR FIRST HISTORICALLY INFLUENCED PIECE.
